With West Hills still unable to be played on Harborne were put up at Warley to play our game against Oswestry. It was a very warm September afternoon and little wind to spoil the game in any way.

Harborne started very slowly and Oswestry had a strong start to the game, meaning that HRFC went 2 tries down very quickly, luckily the Oswestry 10 converted one of the tries meaning that the score was 0-12 with 10 minutes of starting.

First points for HRFC of the boot of Harry Griffiths, after some good work at the breakdown from Noah Murray. (Har 3-12 Osw) Harborne then started to play themselves into the game, they started to defend hard and get onto the front foot in attack.

After an attacking kick through and some good pressure defence in the opposition 22 Harborne managed to win a penalty on the opposition 5m line, instead of going to the lineout there was a quick tap taken. The forwards then went to work in Jack City with Pete Logan eventually crashing over the line with the support of Richard Mansell. Try converted by Harry Griffiths (Har 10- 12 Osw).

Harborne were starting to get the ascendancy in all areas apart from the scrum which we a well fought battle all day. After another mistake from Oswestry at the breakdown Harry Griffiths stepped up again to slot another 3 points from the tee, with the aid of the posts! (Har 13 - 12 Osw).
The rest of the half Harborne were on the front foot but just unable to get over the try line, some great defence from Oswestry and a few silly mistakes from Harborne made the score at half time Harborne 13 - 12 Oswestry.

Playing down the slope int he Second Half Harborne took control of the game. After an unforced error in the kicking game of Oswestry and a penalty Harborne gained a scrum about 25m from the line. And from another great lineout and first phase backs move Callum Sussex skirted round the edge of the defence untouched and scored Harborne's Second try. Converted by the trusty boot of Harry Griffiths to make the score Har 20 - 12 Osw.

Both sides put some good phases of play together with neither side being able to find the right pass or line to break through defences. Until after a mistake from Oswestry in the Harborne 22 meant there was a turnover a counter attack from Harborne. After some good handling and support play, Chris Withers broke away down he blindside of a ruck and skated over for Harborne’s 3rd try of the day. Converted again by Harry Griffiths Har 27 - 12 Osw.

After Harborne scoring 27 unanswered points in the game Oswestry kicked back into life, from a lineout ont he Harborne 22 they put a lot of phases together and after some strong forward runs crashed over under the posts. Try converted (Harborne 27 - 19 Oswestry).

For the rest of the game mistakes and the tiredness of both teams meant it went scoreless till full time first game of the season completed.

Overall a good game from both Sides but a great win to start the season off.
